Crib Safety: Beyond the Basics

Crib safety is paramount.  Beyond choosing a crib with no drop-sides and JPMA certification, there are additional steps you can take to ensure your baby's well-being.  Always use a fitted crib sheet to prevent the mattress from slipping.  Avoid using crib bumpers, which can pose a suffocation risk.  Regularly check the crib for any loose hardware or parts that may have come loose.  Ensure there are no gaps between the crib slats that could trap a baby's head.  Educate yourself on the latest safety guidelines and make a habit of checking your crib regularly.
