Cribs - historic baby products
2022-09-22 20:00In the early days, the crib was like a food trough. Later, the inspiration from the cradle became the prototype of the crib design. In the 19th century, the basic shape of the crib has been finalized. Although the design is constantly excellent, it is more concerned about the continuous improvement of safety requirements and standards.
Hollow out logs as cribs (1600 ~ 1800 s)
The earliest cribs were usually made of hollowed-out logs. Let the baby sleep in the hollow log, and prevent the baby from falling or climbing out by the height of the side, so as to provide a safe rest place for the baby.
Inspired from the Cradle (early 1900s)
In the 19th century, inspired by the cradle, there was the prototype of the crib. At the same time, to keep the baby off the cold ground, the baby crib was lifted off the ground and taller sides were added to prevent the baby from climbing out of the crib easily.
Safety rules from scratch (1950s)
In the years after World War II, baby cribs began to resemble modern cribs, but there were no safety guidelines for the manufacturing process and no precautions to ensure the baby's safety. It wasn't until 1973, when the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission set the first crib safety standards, that it became a pivotal moment in crib history.
Compliance with national safety standards is Paramount (today)
Since then, higher quality baby cribs have been introduced. Not only are easy-to-carry products available, but also functions that can be changed as the baby grows, so that the crib is no longer just a crib. However, no matter how many functions, the premise is that the crib must meet national safety regulations.
